What began as an exploration into the intersection of intimate partner violence (IPV) and high-performance careers developed into original research of an uncharted territory. My work is designed to help both leaders navigating oppressive interpersonal dynamics that their workplace is not equipped to handle and the organizations that cannot afford to lose them.
Through my doctoral research, I investigated a relationship dynamic that appears enviable from the outside, but is, in fact, treacherous. I call this the Diamond Collar. It constricts cognitive function, it leads to PTSD, and it diminishes the leadership capacity of 30% of women (WHO, 2025), and 42% of US women (CDC, 2016). This problem costs individuals, businesses, and the US government $3.6 trillion (Peterson et al., 2018).
Despite these enormous impacts, leadership does not need to be abandoned. With my Adaptive Silhouette Leadership Model through healing, introspection, and a forensic process, Autonomy Archaeology, leaders identify the unspoken truths of this dynamic in a leadership context. Ultimately, with these efforts, leadership can be enhanced beyond baseline levels.
